I’m delighted to welcome Global number 1 bestselling author, Louise Jensen onto my blog today. Louise is interviewing Alison Taylor from her latest pyschological thriller, The Date.
Let’s find out a bit more about the story first.
One night can change everything.
‘I know it as soon as I wake up and open my eyes… Something is wrong.’
Her Saturday night started normally. Recently separated from her husband, Ali has been persuaded by her friends to go on a date with a new man. She is ready, she is nervous, she is excited. She is about to take a step into her new future. By Sunday morning, Ali’s life is unrecognisable. She wakes, and she knows that something is wrong. She is home, she is alone, she is hurt and she has no memory of what happened to her.
Worse still, when she looks in the mirror, Ali doesn’t recognise the face staring back at her…
From the no. 1 bestselling author of The Sister, The Gift and The Surrogate, The Date is a gripping page-turner that will keep you awake until the early hours. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train and Before I Go To Sleep.
It sounds ‘edge of the seat’ stuff doesn’t it? Let’s move onto Louise’s interview with Alison
Louise: Hello Alison. Thanks for agreeing to be interviewed.
Please call me Ali. Everyone does.
I know you’re going through an incredibly hard time, so I’ll try to be as sensitive as I can. Do you mind me asking about your Posopagnosia?
It’s also called Face Blindness. I’d never heard of it before I had an accident that damaged the part of my brain that’s responsible for facial recognition. I woke up and couldn’t recognise anyone. Not even myself.
That sounds utterly terrifying. What caused your accident?
It was terrifying. It is. The accident… I can’t quite remember. I’d been… I’d been on a date. A guy, Ewan, I met through the internet. My marriage to Matt broke down and… it wasn’t like I was looking for anything serious. My friend, Chrissy, persuaded me it would be good for me to have some fun but I woke up covered in blood and bruises and everyone looking like a stranger.
Chrissy must feel horribly guilty for what happened to you?
I don’t know. I haven’t seen her since that night. She’s completely avoiding me.
That’s awful. You need to be surrounded by people you love. Are you and your ex Matt still friends? Is he supportive?
He’s been acting odd. Secretive. Everyone seems to be different. Hiding something. Or perhaps it’s only me who has changed.
And Ewan? I’m guessing you haven’t seen him since your date? Asked him what happened?
He’s removed his online profile. But… I’ve been getting notes. Threats. He knows something about me he shouldn’t. He’s out to destroy me and I don’t know how to stop him. He could be standing right in front of me and I wouldn’t be able to recognise him. It could be you. Oh god. Why are you so interested in what I remember? Are you Ewan? Please don’t hurt me. Please don’t hurt me again.
