We’re stepping back into the past for my eighth book for Christmas. It’s the historical romance Her Christmas Knight by popular Harlequin author Nicole Locke. Get ready to swoon!

A knight to protect her—this Yuletide

By order of the English king, Alice of Swaffham searches London nobility for the traitor dealing information to the Scots. Little does she know that the mysterious spy she seeks is the man she once loved and thought she’d lost forever…

If Hugh of Shoebury felt unworthy of Alice before, as the Half-Thistle spy he can never claim her heart. Now he must fight to keep not only his dark secrets—and Alice—safe from a vengeful king…but also his burning longing for her at bay!

I asked Nicole to share her festive traditions with us

Do you have any favourite family Christmas traditions?

Given this is the first proper Christmas in our new home, I don’t know what our traditions will now be for our family. But I suspect food will stay the same (or else there will be riots!). So clam chowder will be cooked for Christmas Eve supper and French Toast Panetonne for breakfast.

When do you open your Christmas presents?

Always Christmas morning. The game is to see how long I can prolong the opening of presents with my 15yo son and 8yo daughter. But the tricks of stopping in between for breakfast and playing with the toys have helped (we once lasted 4 hours!).

If you could invite any author to share your Christmas lunch, who would it be?

I would love to have Louisa May Alcott and her entire family over for Christmas lunch.  Little Women is one of my and my daughter’s favourite stories (she cries every time Beth dies and yet continues to ask to watch it!).

Now that would be an interesting lunch!

What book would you like to find in your Christmas stocking?

A book waits for no reader in our household. The second I want to read a book I’m doing it, and my children are the same. So it’s either off to the library or shops…weekly.

Thanks for dropping by to tell us about your book, Nicole. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, successful New Year!
